Although a good hour’s drive from Southwest Harbor, a trip to Schoodic Peninsula is well worth it. Hiking and gravel cycling trails allow you to explore the spectacular landscape. The 12-mile paved loop around the peninsula allows you to soak up scenery every bit as beautiful as the Park Loop on MDI. There are picnic areas in the park as well as restaurants and cafes in Winter Harbor and Birch Harbor.
